Today Adleigh to to make someone's day. We were sitting out at our garage sale, and this older gentleman got out of his car and came back. He's one of those guys who, if he was a church greeter, would probably hug people instead of a handshake. He was so sweet. He took one look at Adleigh and asked if he could hold her. For whatever reason, I didn't feel uncomfortable by that request when I normally would have. He just raved about how adorable she was, and how blessed we were to have such beautiful children. He said, "Thank you for letting me hold her. I'm going to be praying for you guys." Then a minute or so later, he said, "Thank you again. I am so happy. I have tears in my eyes. You are so blessed." I don't know, maybe I was stupid to let a stranger hold her. Maybe I should have said, "Are you crazy, how do I know you won't come back and steal her?" but those feelings of discomfort I get when strangers get too close to my babies never came. I don't know why. Regardless of what I should have done, I was reminded again of what a blessing my babies are.
I think this is why everyone wants to hold her-she smiles all the time! And then of course, who can resist those beautiful, chubby cheeks!
